7 Days Till Day 1

Hello!

It's Jim and this is my first entry into what I hope will be a tell-all account of the production of "Ciao." This will be director Yen Tan's third feature, having previously produced and directed the festival hits "Happy Birthday" and one-quarter of the ensemble film "Deadroom." This will also be my third feature film, after "Bloodshed" and "Deadroom."

Other peeps involved are:

KEY CAST
Adam Neal Smith - "Jeff"
Alessandro Calza - "Andrea"
Ethel Lung - "Lauren"
...and a whole load of talented supporting roles.

KEY CREW
Clare DeVries - Production Designer
Michael Victor Roy - Director of Photography
James M. Johnston - 1st Assistant Director
Scott Snyder - Location Sound
David Patrick Lowery - Editor
...and many more wonderful crewmembers!

OK, glad we got that out of the way. If you want to read a synopsis of "Ciao" you can find it at www.ciaomovie.com.

Updates and a general rundown of things as they stand:

We currently have a bit less money in the bank than we need to shoot. (Yes, we are 7 days from beginning principal photography.) That said, we DO have two major investors on the line and, if either of them follow through on getting us the actual loot, they will save our asses! Many thanks to those who have already given to the project - we really appreciate you!

OK, tactless plea out of the way, we have other GREAT NEWS!

All of our locations have come through, and they look amazing. Seriously.

Today, I just signed the lease on our main shooting location, a 2-story condominium in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas. Our wonderful production designer Clare is about to start painting the walls, rolling in furniture, hanging paintings and the most important part, adding that hint of clutter to make things look lived-in. This location will serve as Jeff's Apartment, as well as Mark's Bedroom.

Here are a few stills of some other locations we have acquired along the way:

And the best part? There's still so many wonderful locations, including a fantastic bar and grill, another three private residences and several cinematic exteriors.

It's all coming together!!! Tomorrow morning I meet with James (1st AD) to draw up a "final" shooting schedule. 9am is going to come all too soon.

Wish us luck on our financing and please comment! I'm going to try to write every day, but don't kick me if I miss a day here and there. Things are about to get nutty...

Cheers!

Jim
